My Story

I remember illustrating my math lessons in kindergarten and continued to incorporate art into all my subjects throughout high school. When I was 10 years old, I even took the elevated train downtown to The Chicago Art Institute to take adult art lessons - it was an amazing experience!

In elementary school, I was recognized for my artwork by having my drawings displayed in the hallways and was recommended to take art as a major in high school. However, my high school art teacher wasn't as impressed and consistently gave me a C grade. Despite the principal’s pleas, instead, I took art as a minor. After earning my bachelor’s degree in college, I got married, taught school, had two wonderful children, and earned my M.S.Ed as a Diagnostic Reading Teacher. While my children were in middle school through college, I managed my husband's medical practice.

Although art was put on the back burner during this time, I continued to paint and design needlepoint canvases and sew patchwork quilts. However, my life took a turn when I went through a divorce after 27 years of marriage. Because of this experience, I earned a Master’s Degree in Human Services Counseling, turned my thesis into an eBook which focused on how to co-parent during and after divorce, and developed a therapeutic practice to help parents implement this strategy.

After struggling with autoimmune issues, cancer and neurosurgery, I halted my private practice and founded the first science fair project site online, wrote books for teachers and students on the subject, and sold the site after 21 years of helping kids and teachers use the scientific method as a metaphor in their life. Time to retire… so I thought!!!

After a couple of months of retirement, I was bored and returned to my passion for art at the age of 79! Taking a surface pattern design course reignited my spirit, and I now specialize in creating art for surface patterns that can add a touch of joy to your surroundings. My artwork is influenced by my love of family and nature. My motto is “Life is an adventure. I am here and smiling!”

If you’re looking for art that is both soulful and eclectic, I’m the artist for you. My unique and vibrant artwork is sure to bring a touch of joy and beauty to your life.
